What is PlAsma FibroblAst?
A powerful, moderately invasive, skin-tightening, brightening, and rejuvenation treatment!
Immediately After Fibroblast
The treatment often called Plasma Lift, Plasma Fibroblast, Plasma Pen or Dot Plasma, uses a pen-like device with a metal tip to discharge a targeted electric current or plasma arc in small dots on the skin.
The device tip doesn’t directly touch the skin but a plasma arc held 1mm above the skin creates small holes or micro-injuries in the skin’s outer layer targeting the fibroblast cells. Fibroblasts are collagen and protein-producing cells that play an important role in helping wounds heal as well as maintaining skin firmness and tightness.

“I have been looking for this kind of service for years. So when I found Volta through one of my clients, I booked immediately!
I am thrilled that I got my entire face and neck done because it took at least five years of sun damage and crepey skin off my face. I recommend Volta all day, every day!!”

The results you get are permanent, however, your skin will still continue to age over time, so we say 2-5 years. Additional treatments may be desired to see the full rejuvenation of certain areas, and the number of treatments will depend on the depth of wrinkles, texture, and age of the skin, as well as aftercare and lifestyle factors. Age, Smoking and excess carbohydrate consumption (skin glycation) can lengthen healing time. Multiple treatments to the same area should be scheduled a minimum of 8 weeks apart.

This procedure is very safe, however, making sure you are a good candidate, practicing excellent aftercare and religious use of SPF is important. After the treatment there will be some inflammation, redness and swelling for 1-3 days, swelling and redness may range from mild to extreme, especially in the eye area. After 2-3 days small carbon crusts or scabs will form. After 5-8 days the scabs will begin to fall off. There may be peeling and dryness. For older clients, smokers and those with healing disorders the dots may take longer to shed. After shedding, you may experience mild hypopigmentation (light spots) or mild hyperpigmentation (dark spots), which usually clear up in 2-8 weeks.
Occasionally, pink atrophic spots (where the dots were applied) can last up to 6-12 months after treatment, although this is incredibly rare. Some areas such as the body and neck take much longer to fully heal than the face. Vitamin C can be used topically as well as melanin inhibitors like hydroquinone before and after the treatment, and they will eventually resolve. SPF and sun protection is of the utmost importance in the months after Plasma Lift.
There is always the small possibility of infection immediately after treatment, so cleanliness is extremely important.
Please be aware of the signs of serious infection like excessive pain, abnormal swelling, red streaks going from the procedure site towards the heart, elevated body temperature, or purulent drainage from the procedure site.
Let me know if anything seems off, I will also be checking in and asking for photos as you heal.

Sunscreen of SPF 40-50 must be used daily for at least 2 weeks prior to the Plasma Fibroblast treatment and you must be religious about it for 12 weeks afterward. I like the Tizo mineral zinc SPF 40, I usually have it available for $50 or you can find it online.
No lasers or chemical peels for 6 weeks prior or post treatment. No Hyaluronic Acid fillers, botox or microneedling on treated area for 4 weeks pre and post treatment.
Stay out of the sun and avoid tanning salons or the use of any self-tanning products for 4 weeks prior.
If you are prone to Cold Sores or are a carrier of HSV it is recommended to use an antiviral like Valtrex prophylactically before and after your treatment. The Industry standard is 3 days: One full day before your treatment, the day of and the day after. This does not guarantee you will not have an outbreak, but greatly reduces the chances. Contact your healthcare provider for guidance on medications and prophylactic use.
Please remove contact lenses prior to treatment, and leave them out for 72 hours after your treatment if we are treating the eye area.
It is recommended to be well hydrated, avoid alcohol and caffeine and be in good health prior to treatment.
-
Plan to shower the morning of your treatment - you will need to avoid showering for the first 48 hours of healing. Please do not wear makeup in the treatment area.
Wear comfortable clothes and if we are doing a body part, something loose fitting for that treatment area.
When you arrive at your appointment, photos will be taken and then a topical lidocaine numbing solution is left on the skin for approximately 35 minutes. If you are allergic or resistant to lidocaine let me know ASAP and we can discuss other options.
When the treatment area is sufficiently numb, your treatment will begin. You may feel some heat in the treatment area or an itchy sensation. You may feel small zaps of pain on a scale of 1-5 out of 10. Since the treatment includes small burns to the skin, you may experience smoke and the smell of charring.
-
You will be given basic aftercare products and full post-treatment printed instructions at your appointment.
Please plan to not shower or sweat or be exposed to steam for 48 hours after your treatment.
Treatment area must be kept clean and out of the sun for 48 hours. Disinfect any glasses you need to wear with alcohol to keep bacteria at bay.
You may have swelling, redness and weeping and should plan to take downtime and avoid in-person work or social settings for 48 - 72 hours after. Ideally no masks will be worn during this time to keep the area clean. You will experience some discomfort due to swelling and a sensation of sunburn in the immediate days following treatment. You may have some heat and itching but not ongoing or extreme pain. The delicate eye area will experience more swelling. In certain cases, usually with very lax or mature skin, when both upper and lower lids are treated, swelling can interfere with your vision. If this is a concern, these areas can be treated in separate sessions.
After the initial 48-72 hours small carbon crusts or scabs will form. After 5-8 days the scabs will begin to fall off. There may be peeling and dryness. For older clients, smokers and those with healing disorders the dots may take longer to shed. Some areas such as the body and neck take much longer to fully heal than the face.
It’s imperative this new baby skin be protected with physical mineral sunblock (zinc or titanium) SPF 40-50 at all times, even on cloudy days, even with minimal time outside for a bare minimum of 60 days. You must reapply SPF throughout the day. Please have your SPF 40+ purchased and ready post treatment, or plan to get some from me.
MOST IMPORTANTLY DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT THE SCABS!

Plasma Fibroblast vs. Jet Plasma
The face behind the plasma pen
Hi, I'm Alicia.
Welcome to Volta! I am so excited to be offering this revolutionary skin tightening service to my community of Santa Cruz, and the clients that come from all around California. I’ve received 2 certifications in Plasma Fibroblast, in addition to other aesthetics certifications. However, I believe in using our bodies’ healing capabilities to enhance our own natural beauty and I love the results from Plasma so much that I have chosen to specialize in just this treatment.
When I am not burning your beautiful faces, you might find me cooking and mixing up a cocktail, doing a crossfit class or taking a beach walk, traveling with my husband and friends or treasure hunting at estate sales. I can’t wait to meet you and see what else we may have in common!
